The Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou presents an array of festive specialties for the coming Year of Dragon, offering a perfect place for family and business associates to gather and celebrate in traditional Chinese style.

Reunion Dinner

Reunion dinner on Chinese New Year Eve, 22 January 2012, features auspicious dishes. Highlights include Chinese prosperity platter, double boiled sea treasure soup with truffle, sliced imported beef with truffle, steamed deep sea grouper with soya sauce and chicken stuffed with sea cucumber, conpoy, abalone, fish maw and mushroom. CCTV 2012 Spring Festival Gala Evening will broadcast live on the enormous LED screen, and all diners can participate in an exciting raffle with a 100 per cent winning probability for a chance to win festive prizes.

The Reunion Dinner is priced at RMB6,388 per table of 10. An early bird special is available at RMB5,388 per table for reservation made before 10 January 2012.

New Year Delights

Representing the aspirations of the Chinese people for the coming year, guests are invited to enjoy Nian Gao (ๅนด็ณ•), which is a must-have festive delight. Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou offers guests five types of Nian Gao prepared with premium ingredients and delectable flavours such as coconut, taro and white turnip, as well as home-made Coconut Layered Cake.

The four types of festive hampers this year are specially designed to delight business associates and family members, each filled with a range of goodies such as Prosperity Festive Cake, premium Chinese tea, and imported wine.

Nian Gaos are priced from RMB108 to RMB158 and hampers from RMB488 to RMB1,688. Both are available now at the hotel’s Chinese New Year Goodies Boutique at the lobby level.

Pun Choi

Pun Choi (็›˜่œ), a Hakka tradition, was originally a simple meal made by farmers simmering the harvest in a large wooden basin. Now Chef Chan from Summer Palace has turned this traditional dish into an exquisite luxury feast with premium ingredients such as abalone, sea cucumber, bamboo pith and king prawns. Guests can gather everyone around the chef's Pun Choi and let it be the perfect beginning to a bountiful year. The Pun Choi is priced at RMB1,388++ for 4 to 6 persons and RMB1,688 for eight to 10 persons, and is available for both dine-in and takeaway from now.
