Savor the Taste of Authentic Korean Food in March

The Four Points by Sheraton Guangzhou, Dongpu Hotel has invited Korean Chef Byungok Lee, from the Sheraton Incheon, to bring the best of traditional Korean food to Guangzhou. This March, guests will have the opportunity to savor authentic gourmet dishes from different Korean regions.

Korean cuisine, known for its low calorie and low fat seasoning ingredients, impresses eaters with a rich choice of vegetable, mushroom, seafood, as well as the extensive array of condiments and home-made kimchi (pickle vegetable).

A great number of side-dishes, also referred as banchan, can not be ignored in traditional Korean meals. Doenjang, a type of fermented soybean paste, soy sauce, salt, garlic, ginger and gochujang, a hot pepper paste are ususally to be found.

Chef Byungok Lee specializes in traditional Korean cuisine with an emphasis on seafood. He likes to put his own stamp on traditional Korean dishes, creating new combinations and experimenting with new flavors while still being careful not to compromise the freshness and originality of the dish.

His wide experience has allowed him to participate in various high profile events. He has cooked for the President of South Korea and the President of the UN at the Green Climate Fund. He was in charge of the winter wine festival and the Korean fusion food section at the G20 Ministerial meeting and 2014 Asian Games organizing committee. Also, while working in the U.S., he was part of the chefs' team who cooked at the PGA tour Gala dinner.

The Korean Food Tour proposes four different "Set Menus" as well as an "A la Carte Menu" with specialties such as Sweet Pumpkin porridge; Sautéed small octopus and vegetables with spicy sauce; Beef bulgogi with assorted mushrooms; Seafood and bean paste pot served with steamed rice; Steamed king crab meat and chives salad with pine nut sauce; or Clove flavored pear and cinnamon jelly. Chef's signature dishes shouldn't be missed: Bimbibab, Nakji bakum and Insam galbijim.

During the food tour, participants will also be pleased with some great presents offered through several lucky draws. Weekly lucky draws will include prizes sponsored by LG Display, LG Electronics, the Korean Tourism Organization, Canton Tower and Lotte. At the end of the month the great prize of a trip to Seoul for two people which includes an airfare sponsored by Air Korea and a 3-night stay in one of Sheraton's sister properties will be unveiled.

The Korean Food Tour will visit the China Spice restaurant situated on the second floor of the hotel every day in March from 11:00am to 02:30pm and 05:30pm to 10:00pm. The "Set Menu" is priced at RMB138+15% per person while the "A la carte menu" starts from RMB 28+15%.
